A quarry of golden calcarenite, the island's own stone: that is exactly what this place was before being inhabited again. Generations of pirriaturi, the quarrymen, cut the cantuna from it, the squared blocks that built palaces and churches on the island and far beyond it, in Trapani, in Palermo and abroad. Today that same quarry is an oasis: six houses gathered under the stone, where every wall bears the marks of human work and every light carries the colour of Favignana.
